SPRAY TAN

CARE

Proper preparation and care is vital to the life and outcome of your custom spray tan

Prep

Drink extra water leading up to your spray tan.

DO NOT use cream-based soaps (ex. Dove or Olay).

Exfoliate using a rough, non-oily scrub (mitts are strongly recommended).

Exfoliate 24 hours prior to your appointment with a loofa, dry brush or mitt. Don’t forget areas that tend to be drier like elbows, knees, etc.

Wear loose fitting, dark clothing to your appointment. Avoid tight clothing such as bras or leggings until rinsing.

Come to your appointment with product-free, clean skin. Do not wear any makeup, lotion, deodorant, or perfume.

Do any hair removal 24-48+ hours prior to your spray tan. Hair removal is optional for your spray tan.

Rinse

Do not get your skin wet during your processing time (before your initial rinse, after your spray).

Always rinse at time instructed by your spray tan artist.

Rinse with only lukewarm water (NO SOAP!).

Let the water rinse your spray tan. You can gently wipe the spray tan off your body with your hand. The rinse is complete once the water runs clear.

Gently pat-dry your skin with a towel; don't rub the towel into your skin.

Moisturize your skin with a spray tan friendly lotion.

Aftercare

Moisturize twice daily and drink extra water. Keep your skin as hydrated as possible.

Do not wax or exfoliate following your tan. Be extra gentle with your skin. Avoid using razors with moisture strips. Use a fresh razor, if needed.

Avoid using chlorine pools & hot tubs.

Always use SPF protection; spray tans do not provide sun protection.

When your tan begins to fade, begin gently exfoliating.

DO NOT use DOVE products or any harsh soaps.

Avoid working out or sweating for 24 hours after your spray tan.

Vacation Spray Tan Tips

Spray tans do not provide protection from UV rays.

Do not use highly fragranced (Bath + Body Works, Victoria’s Secret, etc) moisturizers. These lotions are bad for your skin and your spray tan.

When it comes to spray tans, think the more basic, the better (CeraVe, Cetaphil, La Roche-Posay, creamy, light and no-fragrance).

Hydration is key! Skin that is properly moisturized will maintain the life of your spray tan for longer. Moisturize, moisturize, MOISTURIZE!

Lotion/cream-based SPF is best to protect your skin and spray tan. Look for a broad-spectrum SPF that is free of alcohol and oils. Avoid aerosol sunscreen.

Before you enter the chlorine pool or salty beach water, quickly rinse your body with regular water to create a barrier on your skin.

Ingredients such as glycerin, aloe vera, niacinamide, shea butter, vitamin E and hyaluronic acid are magic for your skin and spray tan.
